Unremarkable Families

DNA results for the families from Lincolnshire and surrounds

DNA results relating to the ancestors of Elizabeth Ann Smith of Market Deeping, wife of Tom Galton. She has 5 families in her ancestry; all of which have known DNA matches to her descendants Michael Jefferies, Louise Simon, nee Jefferies, Nicholas Jefferies, Melissa Clarke, ne Jefferies and Eleanor Nash, nee Jefferies.

The persons that share DNA sequences with one or more of the close family mapped on MyHeritage or GEDmatch can be seen on DNA Painter; the links to the family DNA results are on the 'DNA Test Information' page.

Elizabeth's mother was Ann Todd and her parents were Isaac Todd from Wothorpe in Northants., and Elizabeth Bettles whose family came from Islip in Northants.  Early on my investigation of my family DNA matches on Ancestry showed up a group of persons from the US who had strong matches (>20cM) to me and my son Nicholas and also between each other at 2nd cousin level at most.

Using the few matches that were on GEDmatch it shows that these matches are on chromosome 16 and to a person who is a known descendant of Isaac and Elizabeth, (David Leslie Hartley). David has a match on MyHeritage of 68cM on 5 segments, which when put on DNApainter are on chromosomes 3, 10, 16 (in 2 places), and 20. On GEDmatch the segments overlap with a person called who uses the handle 'LivingKWadhams1' who is in the group from the US and is also on Ancestry,
(where he has 40 matches to the US group), MyHeritage and GEDmatch and a tree with some 500+ persons).

So far there are about 120 matches in this group and I have not found one who has a tree going back to their English ancestors to find which line they are related to! However there is one; connected to the name Adcox, who has GEDmatch tests on chromosome 16 who also has a James Todd, born around 1790 in North Carolina in their ancestry. I have messaged them; so more research may establish a connection there but it remains to be seen.
