Since the first test I did with Ancestry in 2018 the role of this and other tests, as discussed in the following pages, has illuminated, informed and discovered more of the family history than I thought possible. The numbers of persons testing is also rising and more information is thus coming to light.
A very good guide to what you can and can't expect from your DNA is in an article HERE written by Diahan Southard. It will open on a new tab.
The first page below, 'DNA Test Information', summarises the family tests undertaken, the details of tests and where they are held plus some analytical sites where DNA results can be seen.
The second page below, 'DNA experiences', gives more detail about the test results and some general comments on the use of, and issues arising, from the tests that have been found with experience. Don't forget to read the article by Diahan Southard too.
The rest of the links gives more specific information on tests that refer more directly to the family groups known to have come from parts of England; for example the paternal ancestors of my father's father from Essex and father's mother from Kent. This section is, permanently, a work in progress.
