Note* The origins of the Streatfield families earlier than Robert is a subject of much conjecture. In recent times a number of people have been reading and recording names from early documents such as wills and land transactions. These suggest that the name in various forms is present particularly in Sussex and to the north in Kent. However no reliable connection to earleir persons have been made.2

Gilbert de Stretfelde - a medieval knight recorded in a Robertsbridge Abbey document in1219 as holding land in the village of Sedlescombe, Sussex.
Henry de Stretfeld - a medieval knight recorded in 1221 in Patent Rolls of Henry III.
John de Stretfeld - a medieval knight who in 1310 is mentioned in a letter in Patent Rolls of Edward II ("staying in Ireland with other knights").
Henry de Stretfeld - a medieval knight recorded in Lay Subsidy Rolls for Hundred of Staple in 1327, as being in the village of Sedlescombe, Sussex.
Peter le Stretfeld - a medieval knight in 1332 recorded in Lay Susidy Rolls for Shropshire.
Robert Stretefeld - served as an archer at Rouen, France from 1440-1447 in Henry V's army during the Hundred Years War."6
