She was born June 13, 1915, in Wapello, Idaho, the daughter of Thomas R. Harrington and Leta W. Hanson Harrington. Bessie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved embroidery, travel, camping and picnicking. She especially loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. Bessie is survived by her children, Evelyn Virgil Peterson of Pendleton, Ore., Ben Ekrut of Buhl, Lucinda "Happy" Wright of Jerome, Everett Joyce Copenbarger of Wendell, Edward Corina Stowell of Houston, Texas, Lenore Roy Bartlett of Compton, Alaska, Jim Stowell of Jerome, Frank Elaine Stowell of Amarillo, Texas, Karen Adamson of Reno, Nev., and Kathy Doug Sherman of Klamath Falls, Ore. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Irma Cross; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, W.H. Cross; daughter, Anna Mae Ekrut Dover; daughter-in-law, Genele Ekrut; sons-in-law, Orvel Wright and Marvin Simpson; three brothers, Harry Cross, Laurence Harrington, Thomas Harrington Jr. and his wife, Ruth; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters. on 9 MAR 2004.9
