Samuel and Ellen “Nellie” had three children; James William, Mae and Grace “Gay” Hackett in Plymouth, Luzern County, Pennsylvania. The three siblings later took the surname of their step-father George Palmer.
In 1885, Ellen “Nellie” Brown Hackett, married George Palmer. The couple and Nellie’s three children by her first marriage moved to Iowa City, Illinois where son Arthur "Art" was born. Nellie and George ran a boarding house for a while in Illinois, then moved to Gillespie, Jefferson Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania where George worked in the coal mines. They had three children in Gillespie, two daughters; Estelle “Stell” and Rondell, and one son Isaac "Ike". on 22 June 1933.1 |
